I know why he has red eyes. You just yanked him from the water after he was thinking .....hmmmm easy meal.......Wouldnt you have red eyes?????

Any species of black bass can have redeyes. I think sometimes it indicates stress, like when they are spawning or something.
Just posted the possibilities of the species that it could have been. I thought the pictures would help everyone get an idea of the different types of fish everyone was talking about. I thought the redeye had a limited range too but didn't look that up.

My daughter caught a 2.75 oz. rock bass on Lake Michigan (and got an award) It's too skinny to be a rock bass, it looks to me like a Kentucky bass.
