Improved Clinch Knot

Why shouldnt you use an improved clinch knot on braid ? What are the odds that you will have a problem with this knot with braid ?

never trid the improved clich with braid but the ruglar clinch will slip out of a knot so i use a plamour knot with braid your knot has to be like tied at the end kindof

yeah i think it is because it slip.... just use a palomar

I've tried a Improved Clinch knot with Power Pro, and it slipped more then once. Use a Palomar or Uni knot with braid.

Thanks Joel , since you tried it I wont. I can tie the clinch in a second , but the palomar is a bit tricky for me , that last loop around the bait really is hard for me to cinch down for some reason ?

I use the improved clinch not with power pro and so far i havent had any problems at all.
and cmorg i think you may be making your twists too tight. try to lossen it up some and dont wet it like you would monofilament and you can just slide the knot down with your fingers. make sure you pull it as tight as it will go before you cut it or it will slip.

Braid does not hold knots like the Improved clinch because it is very slick and will slip. The reason the palomar knot works is because there are many areas the line presses down on itself, and the tighter it pull the tighter is clamps down. Just stick with the palomar for any braid, unless you want to get very mad at knots slipping.

As others have said, the Double Uni-Knot also works well on Braid.

I've used a Improved Clinch knot in my saltwater party boat days. Even the crew used that knot to quickly tie on a jig when jigging for Blues. I use to loose count of how many jigs I lost due to the Improved Clinch knot slipping. And yes I was using braid with no leader.
