Default Has anyone Seen, or used this bait?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OstZvCdXrR4

Ok! i have to ask.... if anyone on this website site has used, or seen the Footage on this Snake lure, If your not sure what i'm talking about click the link, even if you do know what i'm talking about, Its still a heart stopping video to watch these fish eat a 10" snake lure. (link above) -enjoy.

If you have the snake lure, can you leave your personal insight on weather or not it's designed to catch bass, or Bass fisherman?

That is the first time that I have ever seen the snake lure like that. I liked it real well.

I have some. They look good in the water, they catch fish. They are not magic. And they dont cast worth a damn.

They are made out of a super stretchy material that does not cast well at all, and if the wind is blowing forget it.

a friend of mine gave those a try and he caught a big bass but they are not all that. my favorite plastic topwaters are horny toads, fork frogs, and zoom finesse worms. maybe they think the finesse worms look like a baby snake or something?? most people dont fish these topwater but i do everything.. good luck

I have used them and they are okay. I B&*#( to cast. The biggest issue with them is that they melt very easily. I had to go as far as to keep them in the cooler with the "um.....water and soda".

this may be a dumb question but what causes a bass to eat a snake? I've seen these lures before on tv and I doubted them. Is it just the topwater presentation that causes them to strike?

I've heard bass eat the following on the surface.

Insects, Mice, rats, frogs, marlboro menthol lights, lizards, Small birds, & snakes. _ If i left out any

I think i read one time there have been reports of baby soft shell turtles found inside the stomachs of large mouth bass, and even a Shoehorn -~>

(Guess the bass that ate the shoehorn,... thought it was a Johnson silver minnow)-ROFL

I have got two packs of them. Expensive and they will melt if left in the hot sun or in your tackle in the heat of the summer I am told. I can't say they work like on the video for me but I have not used them a lot. I got em toward the end of the summer. You will need to cast them without using your wrists. They will tend to make your reel birds nest if you load the rod up when throwing them. Just a smooth straight wrist throw will help, sorta like throwing a c-rig to prevent it from helocoptering/spinning.

Like Doc said no magic bait, and for me as of yet as well, but I have not put them to the test yet much. The videos sure make the bait monky peck you on the shoulder and say got to have them.

Maybe this spring and summer I will give them a work out. I have not been patient with them and let them set like the instructions say, so maybe fishing them a little more finess style will work better. I like to watch em swim though.

I've seen the video before. Others I know who bought it have mixed results. Bottom line it never lived up to the hype of the video. Frogs/Rats, Horny Toads, Super Flukes all catch fish, are easy to cast, and are available just about anywhere.
