Also, to help with feeling the hits, I touch the line with the index finger of the hand I'm holding the reel with. That way, it might not matter quite so much how sensitive the rod is.

Thanks for the Suggestion Mississippiboy.. ive been trying to get into the habit of doing that.
i also went & got some 1/4oz weights instead of the 3/16th's i was using,I like the 1/4 oz so much more. able to feel the bottom a whole lot better when moving the bait as needed and it seems like my bait is staying in position better as well when twitching whatever plastic im using

That is a great tip. However, with my rod being so sensitive, combined with my fc line, I don't have to do that when it's too cold.

If I ever learned anything in fishing, it is that our hands are far more sensitive than the most senstive rods out there.

Did you know that the human sense of touch is so sensitive, it can feel a bump of 1/10,000 of an inch? If you ever see guys doing car body work, and rubbing their hands on a fender, and not even looking at it, that's why.

That is amazing, and not that you've given a tangible figure, perhaps we shouldn't be surprised, because God must have known what he was doing.

When I fished with just a line and hook and bait and a piece of lead, I was simply blown away at the sensitivity and feedback my hands were giving me. You could even feel the little waves going through the line, something you will not feel with a rod in your hand.

I've been Drop Shotting for years, and it's my favorite finesse presentation. If the fish aren't where you're fishing, or are just plain shut down, then almost nothing will work unless you hit 'em on the head. I rarely change color other then for water and or light conditions. I only use Watermelon with Black flake, Pumpkin, and June Bug to cover those conditions.

I have. Just to think out of the box a bit, I do not constrain the drop shot technique exclusively to finesse and small sized offerings. One can easily step it up a bit and use heavier line, hooks, bigger offerings and a casting outfit and you just might find larger bass.

Last trip out, nailed a 3 1/2 and a 4-2 both on a Drop Shot.

I, WTL, just tied a drop shot rig on my spinning outfit. Watched Kev's video last night. Have done some research. Gonna give it a (drop) shot! Hehehe

Next thing you know, we'll have cats and dogs playing together, Jews and Arabs getting along, chocolate and peanut butter in the same candy...total pandemonium.

For what its worth, I just got back from the lake and while my trip was far from that great, I did get my first bass on a drop shot rig. All 1/2 pounds of him.

I think they already got that one... Does that mean we're getting closer to the pandemonium?!!

I do love me some good pandemonium!

It seems to share in my frame of view a commonality with the split shot rig, the difference being you are sure to get you bait up higher in the water column where the bass are suspending, you wont lose lure and weight should the weight get hung up and you have a more direct line to the lure.

I have thrown the split shot for many years now, and often on heavy tackle with big line and regular sized baits.
