I plan on attending. I will most likely be staying for 4 days. I'll be arriving on a Wednesday evening and fishing Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning, then head home that same Sunday afternoon.

I know there has been some talk about fishing the pre-spawn on Dale. I never have, so all I have to go by are what the fishing reports say about it. The reports say that you have a chance to catch better numbers and possilby heavier fish too. What I've read is that it all depends on the weather. If we can time it during a good warm front coming through, we should be able to find active fish. But then I've also heard a passing cold front will shut the fish down. So fishing the pre-spawn is all about have good timing. Where fishing the post-spawn is not as hit or miss so to speak.

I'm ok with either April or May. I'm planning to fish Dale next March, April, May, and June anyways. So whatever we decide is fine with me.

The middle of April, the week of the 13th, is the week leading up to Easter Sunday the 20th. I'm not sure, but this might keep some people from being able to attend because of family plans.

I also wanted to mention that Garey (Bubba) will be back home the second week of April, 6th - 12th.

Hey Ron (bcklash) are you still limited to the last two weeks of April?

i will be really free after 19 mar (RETIRING) so anytime is good for me . i would like to have a positive head count by mid jan or sooner. that way i can lock in the harbor house. either one or both floors. hopefully bama and bubba can also attend. if it is alright with everyone i would like to have the money from everyone for the room prior to arrival. once i have head count and days they are staying i can figure out room cost for each person. if anyone wants to stay in cabin by themself and spouse that will be up to you to arrange for that. if you all do not want to stay in harbor house then i need to know that also. if anyone as any input please let me know. i would like this to be a great zookerfest for all. how do you all feel about a steak night or fish fry on night or having group dinners like at wheeler. big fish pot 5 dollars ea. just some ideas. the earlier we can set date the better for everyone to make plans. i know woody said i have final say but the more people who can come the better.

We have a host! Thanks nobass!
And congratz on the upcoming retirement!

As of now, you can tentatively pencil me in for 5 nights, Thursday -Monday.
The ol lady is planning on attending, in which case I'd need a queen bed. If she changes her mind (women!), I'd be happy with a double.

I know there's a few going who are even older than me, so I'm fine with a 2nd floor room.

On the subject of dinners, I fully intend to host a dinner. A fish fry sounds awesome as well.
Either Friday or Saturday works for me on my dinner. Friday would probably make the most sense, if we're gonna have a fish fry, that way people have a chance to catch the grub for the fish fry

I'm not against having it the week of April 13th... If we did, I would be able to save a vacation day since I already get Good Friday off with pay.

What we need is input from the everyone that's thinking about attending, so we make a decision on the dates. If you don't say anything, we can only think that any dates are fine with you.

Not good for me. 17 years seniority not enough to get that week.

Maybe we should post up a poll?

I can make it pretty much whenever.
Obviously, we want as many to attend as possible

What rods should I be bringing?
Who knows? Bring a selection. I went the two previous years at DH and took my usual 18 rods in my boat. Year one: I could have taken ONE rod, that being a top water as it's just about the only bait (poppers) I caught fish on the entire week and that was along stone banks. Year two: all excited and geared up for top water (we were a week later in May), and again I could have taken ONE rod, but not the top water - last year the only bait I caught fish on was a wacky rigged Senko, near wood (one particular color and I could not get it in the local tackle shop when I ran out). Each year it was a TOTALLY DIFFERENT way of fishing. The other thing was the bite was only on for me in the early morning or late evening. Between 11:00 - 16:00 I found the bite virtually non-existent and that was both visits.

Next year, being that it will be earlier, I have no clue what will work. Take a little bit of everything, but if it's like the last two years it may just boil down to one bait and one rod for the duration - once you find out what they want, that is. I would love to hit a spinnerbait bite, but that lure didn't work well the previous two visits. I had NO luck with hard baits either year, with the exception of the top water (Excalibur & G-splash poppers) lures during my first visit (2012).

My fish came on a football jig and a swimjig. I got nothin' on anything else. I've heard (I read this on the internet, and they can't put anything on the internet that isn't true. Bonjour!) that spinnerbaits don't normally produce on DH. Something about the water being too clear, so the spinner looks too artificial, too flashy.
3"-5" swimbaits, I think, are supposed to be where it's at, but like I said, I couldn't buy a bite on anything other than a jig when I was there. But that was only 2 1/2 days of fishing, so it's a very small sample size.
