Default question for todd

i just purchased a hds7 gen 2. to upgrade from the 5 with structure scan i was thinking of using 5 for gps only. do i have to install transducer to do so. easier if i do not have to pull wire for 2nd transducer

I don't think so. Transducer is only for sonar display, you should see a blank sonar screen without a transducer connected. Your GPS antenna provides location for the map display and you should have view selections that enable a full screen map view.

that is what i thought. just double checking. did not want to go thur hassel of running second cable

On a related note, if you have the units Ethernet-linked, you can share one 2D sonar ducer between both units via the "Network Sonar" option.
