Default What to Use?

This weeken I am going to Bushwacker Lake in Kansas, the whole lake is basically covered in stumps and trees and i need some hints on what to use, I have had no luck on spinnerbaits in the past. This is a 4,125 acre lake

I like to use a weightless senko or a u-tail worm around stump and overhanging trees. If the water is deep than texas rig it. Crankbaits are also a good bet. Make them bump and knock off the stumps as you retreive it cause it may provoke strikes. If the topwater bite is on try running a buzzbait or a popper past those stumps and trees.

Fishing stumps..I would probably use a spinnerbait even though you said you haven't had success with them. Try a different way of fishing them. I would also be looking at something like senko's or tiki sticks, wacky rigged finesse worms, and depending on how deep the stumps are, crankbaits.

Jig might be a good bite, too....hopping it really softly right around the corner of a stump could get you nailed.

A C-rig might help if you have to slow it down

Pitch to all the stumps, and if the stump has something different looking about it pitch to it 3 or 4 times. Look for roots, where Polarized glasses. If it has weeds, and a stump, keep working it, because there is a bass on it. If the water is muddy or tainted, I like to bump the stumps with my bait. If it clear water i try to not bang it as much. A T-rigged bait will work with a lighter pegged bullet weight.

zach, i think you are confused, i am from lamar which is like 20 minutes from you and i fish bushwacker a lot. it is not in kansas though it is in missouri on the barton county and vernon county line. lol the best fisherman in southwest missouri can't even find the lake... just jokin with ya buddy, when fishin b.w. we have always caught a lot of bass on t-rigged plastic worms, but in the dog days when it's so hot you can usually get into them trowing a square billed crank bait in the brush. good luck and catch a bunch of them.
