Default Jointed Red Fin

My fishin partner said there was a great topwater bite over on Beaver and wanted me to pick him up a jointed red fin. I just wanted to know if anyone else used these and what their results were. Also I wanted to know how to work it...do you work it like a jerkbait or do you "walk the dog" with it? As always thanks in advance.

I just reel the jointed red fin slow. They work well when you want a lure that can hold steady just a couple feet below the surface.

Once again your wrong bk. The redfin
is considered a topwater. Another very good bait that is similar to the redfin is the bango lure with the spinner. Tremendous success with this bait.

BK- You havent been here as long as the majority of us, yet you have 1900 posts. Why, because you run your mouth off about everything, regardless of whether you know what you're talking about or not. If you dont know what youre talking about, or don't have anything useful to say, then just read the post, learn something, and move on.

They use the redfin as a topwater at beaver to get the suspended fish to come up and kill it. They are reeling it on the surface very slowly, in the super clear water it attracts very deep fish to come up after it. There are also several other baits that work the same way. Watch the FLW at beaver on TV and you'll see the second place guy doing this (though he wasnt using the redfin) This technique began as a striper fishing technique.

Another tip is you can heat the lip on your lure to bend it down a little bit so that it doesnt dig and runs on the surface easier, and/or at a faster pace without going under.
