All I am saying is look at the water itself, basstech got it, sure its muddy but what color is it. Put it this way, if you wanted to paint your house, they showed you light green then dark green, would you argue the same. No, its obviouse one is light the other is dark, your not concerned that you can only see so far thru one or the other. One is light the other is dark.

CCBass, I believe that you would make an excellent politician.

To me it's simple: If the sun is out and it is presumably day-time and I look down at the shore line and can see rocks that are down about a foot or so but cannot see much deeper than that the water is dark, muddy..whatever..if it's clear it's so obvious you could ask 100 people if it's clear water and they would all agree. I would say that most of the water that we fish is dark. Clean, clear water is so different. It's strange to me when I look down in 12 feet or so and make out the bottom, that water is clear...un-mistakable.

There are varying degrees of light and dark...actually I would say an infinite number. Don't argue the obscurities, it's not going to matter what bait I pick up if the water color is a slate green and not a forest, or perhaps it's more of a royal blue than navy....rule of thumb...if the water is clear use lighter baits, dark=darker baits..Bass are fish man, they are not methodical thinkers, they are a creature of habit and most of the time will bite a bottle cap if it catches their fancy.

Jason, case in point that might be a little off from your thoughts. Fished a lake in early July, weeds all over the lake and the lake was clear for the most part, 6/10 foot vissibility. Caught our fish on dark colored cranks, bluegill in nature. Same lake a month or so later, same weed line ect. and it had greened from an alge bloom, now light green with 2/3 foot vissibility. Caught fish on light colored cranks in bluegill type patterns, using the same dark colored crank in the same areas produced no results.

Bingham, in my statement, and the way a poster said it, I am beating a dead horse. My thoughts are not those of most on here, some did learn others will not, so I should no longer try my case.

maybe you should start making posts in the daytime instead of in the middle of the night, that could be the problem...

Every now and then....check that...quite often - I regret things that I post here that might push some line or boundary.

I'm not sure if I think the "harbls" picture is worth regretting or not. On one hand, it is very topical given the nature of the discussion up until that point. And it was funny. Bawdy and disgusting, but funny.

On the other hand, its also pretty sick.
