Default Wheeler

Anybody have anything on Wheeler in late October??? Do they draw this lake down?? If so then when?? Just looking to pass along some basic strategies and ideas....

Been a while, can't remember any super specific october pattern or anything of that sort. They do draw it down a little in winter, not a lot...maybe 2 feet or so.

smitty, fromwhat i have been able to gather. GO DEEP!! small jigs and DEEP cranks. traps etc.

Thanks for the help but Oct 15th was the cut off for the exchange of information to the guys fishing.

Looks like they caught some good fish on Wheeler. Plenty of 10-13lb limits with a couple up to 16lbs. They were also catching smallies along with the largemouths. From the google maps look at the lake there's plenty to fish. One interesting thing I noticed was that if you zoomed in on the map you would get a pic before and then after the draw down. So you'd see a shore line in one pic and then zoom in and it would change from summer to fall and there would be laydowns out of the water.

Those laydowns are what you want to fish when the water is up and you cant see them.
And for lakes with a 12 in length keeper that aint bad,they are not considered big fish lakes.Wheeler or Wilson.
Yet a surprise can happen Tn state record for largies recently came out of Pickwick,also not known for large fish.
