Default Max MPH is still only 71

Hey all, most you know I got a newer boat few months ago..and back then i could only get it to 70-71.. and after having more hours behind the wheel.. thats still all i get outta here..
I've talked to a lto of ppl.. some say max should be pushing 80, while others say that max should be bout 73...
Im friends w/ a guy who has the same boat but w/ a 225 Evinrude HO.. and he does 80...

What your thoughts and any input to make me fly.. would be great..

I"ve got an '05 Stratos Pro XL DC w/ a 250 VMAX...

Give it some wings.

Sorry couldn't resist. But is there a reason (other than just the need for speed) for a bass boat to go that fast?

Adjust your trim a bit maybe? I know my bayboat gets 40 when its supposed to get 50, but sometimes on a calm, nice day and im by myself if I barely tap the trim till its perfect, It'll hit.

bet it is the heat and humidity when it is just sloppy humid your moter loses an abseen amount of horse power from suckin in water vapor. when it is nasty humid the best i can hit is 35 during the winter i am pushin it just over 40 same prop..

why are you listing it in the classified section - are you trying to sell it?

Sorry Future Pro. Just now seen this post over here. Anyways ole ZOOK gets the cookie on this one. High heat and high temps sap the zap outta a outboard REAL quick. Even the EFI engines have some trouble competeing with ole mother nature. A carb motor is even worse. My boat when the weather is crisp and cool jumps and I do mean JUMPS on plane loaded to the gills for a tourney and runs to 55.6mph quicker than you can read this sentence. If your gonna setup a boat for maxiumum performance you have to do it in cooler weather. Also you might try a different prop. I noticed you said you used all your trim. If you use all your trim you are definately not set right somewhere. I boat runs its best when t you still have trim left to go but actually hit the limiter. Alot of variables to go through to find which one is the culprit. I suggest waiting till it gets back to the 70's and little hunitdty and we will set it up to run. After that you will realize full potential of your rig. On the prop note you are prolly gonna end up with 2 props to stay at maximum. I have one for when its hot and one for when its cooler. Even though I have mine set for maximum I still only get 49.7GPS when the heat is on. Thats almost a full 6 less than when the weather is cooler.

mine will do 45 with a alum. prop,,,,,,but with a stainless it will do 43 ,,,i dont see why every one whats to go that fast on the water, i seen a guy the other day was going so fast .that when he come around the island i bet he about lost it ,, and when he got it back up i bet there was nothing but the prop touching the water
