Day Job
I joined this site finally as a member after being a guest for about a year. I made this move as I'm aspring to be the best BASS fisherman I can be. I'm assuming everyone here is on that journey as well. Along the way, my question is, what is your "day job". You know the one that keeps you off the water, yet supports your habit (boat, tackle, insurance, etc.) and puts food on the table (not to mention buy something for the wife once in awhile)??
I guess 2nd question would be...Anyone in here made fishing their part-time job (making money guiding or tournament fishing) or full-time job? |

Re: Day Job
Owner/Manager of a Hair Salon. I work too much entirely, and fish when I can. I have never gotten paid to fish, and doubt it would ever happen. I LOVE Bassin too much to want to make it a JOB. If I ever get into the toruneys, and win a few dollars, that would be OK, but I sure wouldn't plan on winning them or the money. Bassin is an exspense(a BIG one at times) so it's something I chose to do with my money.

Re: Day Job
I'm a loan officer at a local bank. I'm also a full time dad for 3 awesome children, and a full time husband to an awesome wife!
I'll fish whenever I get the opportunity and the only money I'll ever make from it is when I win a bet with my 5 year old son. But soon that won't happen 'cause he'll figure out that I was the one who created the backlash on his spinning reel. ??? |

Re: Day Job
Good replies so far..!! I'm an elementary special education teacher. I have summer's off so I try to tell my wife that fishing is my part-time job in the summer. As long as I finish in the money in a few tournaments and give her a cut she's fine! Fishing as a co-angler currently as I don't have quite the rig for tourney fishing. Saving up though. My boss/principal is a fish-a-holic more than I am. I tag along in his Ranger and prefish before his big money tournies whenever I can. Paired up with a guy for this upcoming season for team tournaments and joined the federation. We'll see what the future holds.

Firefighter/Paramedic, father, husband, biker, fisherman. Thought about looking in to the guide thing. Just afraid it will become to much like a job. Dont want to lose the relaxation and joy of being out on the water. 8)

Lizards,
"non fishing related"? I guess that's subjective. But if you want me to move it I will. HMMM would I have gotten the responses down there though? |

Re: Day Job
I am long time restaurant manager, I have been fishing clubs and pro-ams for the last 5 years, Fishing team tourneys this year for the first time and will do a couple pro ams along the way. I have picked up some checks, But my biggest problem is i dont have the time to spend on the water to pre fish because of reg job. When i do get out and do my homework it seems to pay off nicely for me. ......... Scott R

No really, I'm a student so that's the only thing that keeps me off the water. I make my own cranks to save money on buying tackle adn sell a couple here and there along the way. Catch em up Brian |
