This is how most rig their DS baits on circle/octopus/stand-out hooks:
This is how I do it. I may be wrong, but i belive this gives the worm a better action and prevents it from slipping down the hook and sitting vertical: BB

Could you get a better close-up on the second picture? I couldn't see it with enough detail to tell what it was!
By the way, seriously, you could try the Texas Rig. I've never used the Stand-Out hooks, but I use 1/0 Gammies and the T-Rig works great! -Buzz |

I was looking at getting some Mustad EWG MegaLite wire hooks for DS. And Blunker, I tried for about 20 minutes to get a better picture. I had over 40, but my camera is not good at close-ups. And I can't hold it still for crap. I should have just went and got my tri-pod.

Bama, I'm no expert on the drop-shot, matter of fact, I ain't never done it. But you don't really retrieve it, it's more of a "Keep it in their face to p!ss them off" kind of technique. Dead stick it, jiggle just a bit, and wait.

Yep, pretty much. It works good casted and as a vertical technique. I've found that when casting you need a heavier weight than when using it vertical. This may not be hwere you are, but on my pond, it is. It all depends on what's on the bottom to hold your weight in one place.

that's how i do it. most of the time it seems like the less i move it the more bites i get. but it is hard to just let it sit so i usually find myself moving it too much.

If you can get out, that'd be a great time to try the DS. I was using it right after Ice-out and did pretty well.

We've had temps up to 74 today, and 20mph winds with gusts up to 36mph. There is also some severe weather and a tornado watch box west of us. For the most part, the storm is moving NE because of the strong wind from the south. It may miss, us and if it does, it might not cool of like they said. We have snow flurries predicted for the weekend. I hate this stupid weather.

BB, in our area there are lots of lakes with gobies, the bass tear them up. Here is a photo on one of ours in the water:
Our design is different than any of the others on the market and is very neutral in the water. I use Owner or Gammy drop shot hooks. I have heard mixed reviews of the stand-out hooks, but I still want to try them for myself this year. |

I started with the Stand-out hooks, and I've had no problems with them. I'll have to eventually try some regular DS hooks though. Nice Goby by the way, That's whay we'll probably use when we go out on the lake. (Erie)

I'd be leary of going out too far with only a 15 horse though. My buddy has a 50 horse on his boat and he never goes more than ten miles. If a storm blows in, you're done.
