Smile Thanksgiving exploits

Up here most everyone has deer tales over the Thanksgiving break but very few fish tales. So I need you southern folks to help me out. (Northern folks welcome too, sorry) Let's hear about your best or maybe just most memerable Thanksgiving outting.

Here in TX, deer hunting reigns supreme at Thanksgiving too. I might get some fishing in this weekend since the weather is still nice but I don't have any Thanksgiving fishing tales.

I have to follow Bamas lead here. Never did nothin but eat, watch football and maybe a nap. My father however used to go hunting on Thanksgiving morning. Rabbit and pheasant I believe was what he was after. By the time I was old enough to hunt, he had already retired from the sport.

Hunted small game one year a long time ago. Ever since then it's been turkey and football.

No hunting or fishing for our familys Thanksgiving, for us it was cane grindin in the morning and then a hog killin in the afternoon. My fathers side of the family still carries on this ritual to this day. Fast becoming a lost art with the sad demise of the small family farm.

Went out early in the morning with youngest daughter who doing a video project on deer. We hunkered down in a pop up blind and got 8 deer just milling about. Then from the edge of the woods a massive 8 point buck comes out and mounts a doe. All on film BTW
We where supposed to go fishing after the nature film but had to wait till he finished an hour later. Impressive.
Then we hopped in the boat and no more than 10 minutes later we had four nice convict bass and where home by 1pm. The smell of turkey cooking and and the cackle of women just knocked me out.

Best turkey day ever.
