I'd try some topwater like a spook or buzzbait until sun comes up over head, try a spinnerbait soon after, maybe a mann's -1, then go with a senko or tiki stick, and then the Zoom Horny toad, if none of those yeild any bass, go to dead sticking a tiki or senko

well since you said clear water i would go with a flourocarbon, and for weeds i would say your best bet is rat-l-traps and senkos on a 10 lb. flourobcarbon line should work, try more natural colors of lures though!

LOL. old Hoosier here. With the clear water and the veggies, I would definately drag a mojo rig though the weeds. Topwater should be decent early and late. Buzzbait are a great choice, or spookin it wouldn't be bad. Sounds like a smaller lake, where is it located at? I always could catch a fsih or 2 on a Lizard also, that's where I got my name from rotfl. I use Superlines, so you can see I don't believe that stuff about line visibility means anything. But if you feel better about it get some P-Line copolymer for your reel, or just use a leader of Flouro.

Most of the lakes around the Austin area are the same way. I've never fished in a tournament, but I have found doing what others have said about topwaters at dawn and dusk will help. Once the sun comes out, the fish will get in the grass and it turns into an opportunity to flip and pitch a smaller profile jig (maybe watermelon) or worm through any holes you might find. I found that one of the most important things is to be aware of the sun because your shadow cast over the water can spook bass.

gary
never throw a frog on any thing less than braid.. the hook up rate soares using it against mono..i belive the hook set needs to be very solid. not to mention 90% of the fish i catch on them are deep in weeds and a hook set/weed clearing yank is a priority..some thing you can not do effectively with mono unless it is 30+ pound test..

Welcome to the forum!

I'm with Zooker-throw a frog on braid. As far as he clear water, natural colors-green pumpkin, watermelon seed, watermelon red, etc. and for hard baits the same-shad or crawfish colors.
