Default Bass History

Here's a fun site packed with interesting historical information about Bass Fishin back in the day.

That was a pretty cool read.

I remember those. I even had an ultralight combo with one of those funky handles.

bassfishingarchives really is an interesting site, especially for those of us who were bass fishing before B.A.S.S. hit the scene. I clicked on last night at 11 and when I looked up it was past 1.
Surprisingly it seems that a huge portion of their visitors are young guys that are just curious about how the sport they know and love got started.

I looked at a few pages of that site, and found one entry dealing with the 1974 Classic on Wheeler lake. The front picture was of the exact dock on which I probably caught my first fish, bluegill, with crickets...some 15 or so years later in the late 80s. Looked exactly the same then...actually looks the same as of the last time I was there a couple years ago. I'd walk along where the coolers were in that picture, and catch the little sunnies and gills that hung out there.

It's still a "tough lake", at least I thought so when we were there a couple years ago.

Aww its not that tough, we just hit the wrong week with the cicadas and some sort of post spawn slump. It was still one of the few places where you had a legit shot at a trophy sml or lmb.
