For me: 6-inch purple plastic worm, Texas-rigged.

It ain't sexy, but I've caught more fish on it than anything else.

There is no one magic bait that is going to catch fish on every trip. There is no one magic bait period. All of the baits listed will catch fish in certain situations, but not every situation. I myself prefer a spinnerbait, usually a 3/8oz. or 1/4oz. in white or chartruese, or a mixture of the two, with double colorado blades. This particular bait is very flexible as to what type of cover you can fish, what depths you can fish, and what presentations you can use. Even with all of this it is not a magic bait. The best thing to do is to try and learn how bass in your part of the country react to different environments. By this I mean how they react to water color, weather, water temp, structure, and all that good stuff. Good fishing.

I would have to say that if there is no such thing as a "Magic Bait" (and there really isn't) a Charlie Brewer Slider Worm comes pretty close to it. Â*I've caught more bass, (and every other kind of fish) on that little bait than probably everything else put together.

The reason it's so good is that it looks like something a bass would eat. Â*It's small, compact, and floats though the water naturally. Â*It's the kind of bait that both active and inactive fish will bite. Â*As Old Charlie Brewer used to say, if you had just eaten a big meal, and someone came along with a big steak dinner, you might not want it. Â*But if they give you a little bowl of ice cream, you'll take that. Â*You'll take the ice cream if you're really hungry too.

A Slider is simple enough to fish that beginners can catch fish one it, and sophisticated enough that I've been fishing them for 20 years and I'm still learning. Â*It was really the original "finesse" style of fishing. Â*The tackle to fish it is stuff that almost everyone has, a spinning rod and reel. Â*I like a 6' foot med action rod, with a matching reel, and 10 lb test mono, but any spinning rig will do. Â*I've used ultra lights with 4 lb test and never had any problem. Â*

You can fish open water, you can fish heavy cover, you can fish rocks, and grass with it. Â*It's not just a lure, it's a philosophy of fishing. Â*

http://www.fishingworld.com/Slider/

This is a really good article on Slider Fishing. I could have written it. Wish I had.

http://www.bassdozer.com/articles/ch...der-worm.shtml

Get Charlie's Book. Â*Study it. Â*It will change the way you fish every bait you fish. Â*Don't bother with the video. Â*It's a waste of money. Â*

Default Yo, Cajun!

I went to that Charlie Brewer site you mentioned, and you might want to go there, too: they're discontinuing the Slider Worms, and selling out their stock for just $1 per bag (ten worms).

I have always had great success with buzzbaits, but within the last couple of years I have opened up to other options alot more. My favoritism now tends to lead toward Zoom Trick Worms. About any color has worked good for me. I am now working on the jig-n-pig combinations and occasionally a nice crankbait. I have yet to catch one on a crankbait, but I ain't giving up until I do. I have heard that the bite on one is AWESOME, so I really want to experience that one time just to feel it.

Don't get me wrong though, I still love to cast the old buzz bait.

Lizards, why just a black lizard? I bought about 10 paks for this year so far and no black. I might be able to squeeze one more bag. Any other colors?

7.5 in red shad culprit is my ultimate pond lure, but I'm starting to really like spinnerbaits a lot and catch bunches of fish on 'em.

Well you got another 100 or so to catch up ;D Black is my preferred color, however I fish lots of colors, including white, green pumpkin, junebug, watermelon, brown, blue, red whatever color you want. Black is my favorite, and if they bite anything they will bite a black lizard from my experience. So don't throw any away, just keep throwing em, the main thing is the water movement it produces, with the look of the appendages wiggling.

Everybody has their favorite lures, but I don't care for that "all-time best lure" mindset. Different lures for different conditions. If you're talking about the lily pads at this one lake I've fished a lot, it would be soft jerkbaits. But my beloved crankbaits can't be used in the pads, but in open water, they're one of my tops.

I probably have my favorites for a given set of conditions, but no way could I select one as an all-time best.

Triton. I dropped a note to the Charlie Brewer company yesterday. Got this reply.

Mr. Johnson-
These are only our vibratail worms. Not all of them.

Thanks,
Mary Beth

So there will still be Slider Worms avaliable. Never used or even heard of the "vibratail worms" anyway.

i like yamamotos but they tear to easy so i like the waves, kinamis, and strike king 3XXX baits. my dad caght a 9 POUNDER ON YAMAMOTO 5'' BLACK, RED FLECK ,but WACKY witch i hate cause you hang up to easy ,but they make a speacial hook thats weedless for the wacky worms. i like the WAVE WORMS,cause they smell and when you pop'em they glide strait . but i have to say i have had good luck on the KINAMIS . i have a couple packs of strikeking3XXX ZEROS ,but havent tried'em . if you have the extra money for the GARY YAMAMOTOS BUY'EM ,BUT YOU BETTER BUY 7 OR MORE PACKS . AND THEY RUN ABOUT $6 .I HATE THE YUM DINGERS THEY HAVE HOREBLE ACTION.the chompers work ok they need a wieght .i do like the action better with NO WIEGHT if you are backlashing put a 1/8 ounce on.let me warn you though youHAVE TO HAVE 15 PLUS POUND TEST OR HIGHER AND A MEDEIUM HEAVY OR HEAVY ACTION ROD. I'LL NEVER USE A SPINNING REEL. I'LL USE A TEAM DIAWA NEW SOL REEL[its the yellow one]or quantum reel . why quantum cuase there tough .
