Default leader knot questions

Ok so here’s the 2nd part to my love of braid question. Even though I use 6lb for cranking which is incredible thin I'm still was always concerned about the fish seeing my line. My buddy tried to get me to try the double uni to add a leader but I didn’t have great success with the knot.....it broke when i pulled it. I’ve been in florida fishing snook and redfish and had to put a leader on my power pro line. I’ve been tying the surgeons knot 20lb power pro with 20 lbs seaguar red label fluorocarbon with incredible results. Never broke. i i was doing some hard hooksets when fishing the fluke! Getting ready to head back to NC and my bass fishing and try this knot out. I’ve been looking at modified Albright and the double Albright knot as well. I want a knot that’s strong but also be able to run through my guides. When I was fishing the snook and redfish my leader was usually no more than 18”-24” and the knot never went through my guides because I swivel cast so much. But now I’m thinking of 2’-3’ foot leader for my cranking. So I want to know what you guys use (knot wise) and also what your preferred fluorocarbon is for a leader?

Depends what your fishing.... braids pretty good stuff but I fish rocks a lot when I go to amistad I usually use the blood not for a leader and 12 lb floro im testing segar abrasive "x" or something but previously have used trilene 100% the problem I had with trilene is that. One out of like 4 boxes was a bad box ..

Blood knot, and double uni(mostly), but I have friends that swear by the Albright, and Surgeons, but they're fly fisherman primarily. I use an 8-9 foot flouro leader on my spinning gear, and just started using Stren flouro-cast, this season, the verdict is still out, but to be perfectly honest, it probably won't be in use next season. Here's some interesting viewing for you, that might answer some of your questions...http://video.fishingclub.com/pages/knot-wars.

Read through this:

And then, use this knot:

The Double Uni will work, but you need to wrap the braid around itself 8-10 times as opposed to the 4-5 for the mono. I used to use this knot before I started using the Alberto

The Aberto Knot is now my knot of choice for braid to leader. It's fairly simple to tie, and I've had good results in most cases with it. The only time I've had a problem is tying light braid (10lb or less) to light FC (6-8lb). Such small braid slips out of the knot easily.

Here's the "Knot Wars" head to head, Double Uni(which tied the Blood in previous season) vs. Modified Albright(Alberto)
http://video.fishingclub.com/video/U...22ZQCXD9&t=NAF 2010 SHOW 13 KNOT WARS

...guess I might try the "Alberto"(Note the little tip they give you in tying the Alberto).

Yes, I do. Maybe "slips out of the knot" wasn't the right term. However, I have still had mixed experience with the Alberto knot for small diameter braid and FC. No problems with my usual 30lb braid to 12lb FC though.

Interesting tip. Knot Wars is about the only thing the NAFC is good for, lol.

I like the Albright for tying a mono or flouro leader to my braid (braid over leader).

Ive just started using the King Sling loop for cranks. I ran across it and its an easy loop to tie.

Definitely use the Alberto knot (aka mod. albright). If it wont hold, use more wraps. For stripper fishing, they go up to 20 or 25. I usually use 8 or 10.

I was under the impression that they normally used ones for catching strippers.
