Grass jigs
Hi,I'm looking for a good grass jig. Here in SE WI, I don't fish many lake with a lot of wood or rock so I need a good grass jig for flipping and deep weed lines fishing down to say 14'.I'm also not very good with jigs cause I just never liked them.I'm always in the weeds and never know what the heck my bait is doing.I'm determined to learn this technique, so any weight recommendations or tips would be appreciated. Thx Chad

Plitz-first off, welcome to the forum! PnJ turned me on to these a while back:
http://www.allterraintackle.com/products/grassjig.html The line tie is recessed so there is less chance of picking up weeds-I don't fish a lot of weeds but when I have these do a great job

Depends on how you are going to be fishing them and where. If you are casting I wouldn't go heavier than 3/4 oz., but if you are flipping thick weeds you need to punch through I'd go with the 1 or 1 1/2 oz. size. I cast more than flip/pitch so I use the 1/2 oz. the most.

Welcome Plitz.I use 1/2 oz,3/4oz., & 1 oz. jigs for flipping heavy weeds here in NY.The grassmaster jig is a great jig, but the skirts suck. The last time out I had 5 skirt bands break and the one that didn't break, kept sliding down to the round bend in the shank.I had to tie the skirt on with a peice of 50 lb braid I was using. Picasso jigs from Keystone are a great weed jig as well. They also have a recessed line tie in the jigs head as well, you get less snot algae build up using the recessed line tie.

Plitz, I like the idea of those jigs. Maybe the next chatterbait. Welcome to the board.

PNJ, turned me on to the Grassmaster Jigs, and they are outstanding. Not only for grass, but wood as well.
