Default Homogenous reels

Picked up this thread idea from another forum. Thought I would bring it over to my favorite Bass Fishing site . . .

Are your reels homogenous?

No. I use both round and low profile reels, basically for the differences of line retreive rates.I use 6 different brand name reels , different in design such as magnetic braking to centrifugal braking systems.I also use spinning reel .

Homogeneous ? You people who make me look these big words up really crack me up. P N J

according to MR. Webster this is the definition of homogenous:

1 : of the same or a similar kind or nature
2 : of uniform structure or composition throughout <a culturally homogeneous neighborhood>
3 : having the property that if each variable is replaced by a constant times that variable the constant can be factored out : having each term of the same degree if all variables are considered <a homogeneous equation>

if by this you mean the same brand then no but i am getting closer. every time i buy a new rod it gets a revo sx, and everytime a reel gets replaced it gets replaced with a revo sx. unless it is for crankbaits and then i buy the david fritts crankbait reel. i have several of the revo sx's now and a couple of the fritts reels. i do have one cheaper browning reel that i paid like $50 for probably 7 years ago and it is all beat up and looks like crap but still works as well as it did when i bought it, in fact it cast extremely well. i bought a more expensive browning a short time later thinking it should be even better but it was nothing but trouble (now it's 1fastlasers problem since i gave it to him to see if he could fix it when his stuff got stolen hahaha). i probably shouldn't have said that about my good old browning because now it will probably give up on me.

I´ve read that thread, by homogeneus the person asking was meaning if they were from the same brand.

No, my reels are not all of the same brand, my older reels are Abus, my newer reels are Shimanos and Daiwas.

Well my baitcasters were homogenous until this past Christmas. I now have a Daiwa Crazy Cranker in the Shimano Mg family. Since Shimano did not have a light-weight, left-handed, low gear ratio reel, I had to add the Daiwa. Now I got another Daiwa on the way; a 2003 Ito reel. Hopefully, the family of reels will all get along.

Nope, they won´t go along well until you balance The Force, unless you have the same ammount of each brand there will always be trubble, and don´t even think about sitting a Daiwa reel on a Shimano rod or viceversa, there´s somethin´ completly unholy about it.

My reels are not... i own 2 BPS Rick Clunn's, a BPS Extreme, a Cabela's Prodigy, a Quantum Escalade, an Abu Garcia 102 spinning reel, and a Okuma spinning reel... I love them all though... and have all of the confidence in the world with my equipment.

Default Lol ...

Someone looking at the deck of my boat and not knowing me might say wow that guy doesn't have a clue what he wants to fish with...BIG-O-MIX of everything from rods to reels to tackle

I think certain tackle fish better on certain reels and certain rods handle certain lures better and certain line work better with certain reels and certain baits so on and on and on

OK I will shut up now with the rambling

Thanks Will

there is a lot of truth to that. a lot of great reels don't feel right on great rods. so far all of my revo's have felt great on my falcons, like a hand in a glove (not the o.j. simpson glove, i am talking about gloves that fit).

Mostly. With the exception of two Shimano Castaics, all mine are Pflueger. Pflueger doesn't offer a reel simiiar to the Castaic which I have on my two pitchin rods. I really like the thumbar switch.

1 Shimano -- very good reel
1-David Fritts -- havn't used it yet
2 Diawas -- great reels

i think you will like that fritts reel. i don't care for having to take the side plate off to adjust the brakes, plus it takes a screwdriver to get the side plate off. but after you get them set right you shouldn't have to take it off anymore to adjust the brakes, the rest can be done with the tension knob. very good reel for crankbaits, especially deep divers that take a toll on your arms and hands.
