This question could get a lot of answers. I let mine drop to bottom then begin series of twitches and slow retrieve with pauses in between. Also I do a slow retrieve through cover and when I feel a strike against a log or rock I let it fall back to the bottom. If patient you can work a jig all the way into the boat this way and have a pretty solid chance of hookin up. Check out dave he put a picture up(if still there) of the swimming trailers, currently use these a lot.

PB, you have a lot of options with a jig. Â*I like to throw them right in the middle of heavy cover and work them back through. Â*Most of the time I work them a lot like Â*Texas rig-cast it out, let it sink, and then raise the rod tip so it comes up off the bottom, let it settle and reel down to it. Â*Most of the hits will come when it is falling. Â*You can also swim it-cast it out and just reel it in. Â*There is no right or wrong way to fish it, so just experiment a little and let the fish tell you what they want.

DHF, I have long believed if you want to find out how something will work there is only one way-tie it on and chunk it. Worst thing that could happen is you don't catch anything.
