Truth be told I don't think you can fish one wrong. You can slow roll it-reeling it just fast enough to keep the blade turning, you can fish one like a plastic worm-lift and drop it, yo-yo it by raising and lowering your rod tip, or my favorite retrieve, burning it back so it creates a bulging wake on the surface. You just have to let the fish tell you what they want.

another way to fish it(i've had a lot of success doing this)is pitch or cast it into a submerged weedbed.let it fall into the weeds.reel in(slow or fast, depending on conditions).when you hook a weed rip it free and let it fall.many times a bass will nail it on the drop.
there are a couple things required to do this properly.
1st-you need a heavy rod spooled with some heavy line.you also need to use a heavy bait with a flashy, noisy blade(a grubbinzook is the perfect bait for this type of fishing).
and i've found this technique works best when there is a chop on the water in clear to stained water.
i've caught some really nice fish this way.hope it works for you.

i have to agree with tom that is one bait that you can do it with.a tad tougher to do it with a spinner bait. but it can be done if you adjust accordinly.

i have caught fish dragging a spinner bait along bottom like a c-rig. i have caught them while super charging a bulge-somthing only a zook-n-stien can do.

in case you missed it both my self and tom use a HEAVY action 7 foot rods. with high speed reels. for spinner bait fishing.-gee wonder why??
