Default Boat Trailer leaf springs squeaky????

Hey Guys,

Anyone have any tips on squeaky boat trailer springs? I have an older model fish & ski boat and the trailer leaf springs are really getting noisy. I always put my boat axle up on jack stands in the winter months to take the pressure off the tires.... was thinking of rubbing some grease along the edge of where each spring edge rubs the overlying layer next too it. So when I put the weight back down on the axle it will compress some and rub the grease underneath the friction point between them... don't know if this will help much.

Anyone have any other better ideas???

i would try a spray lube with lithium or moly gease in it so it will penatrate the whole spring area. do not be cheap with it soak them well and let sit for a day wipe all exess off before moving booat to keep from getting on boat

ck with an automotive spring shop...they have teflon strips that go between the leaves. lot of work ...but stops the squeaking...and in severe cases improve the ride

I used to restore and flip MGB's and MGB/GT all the time. At every British car show a couple of Classic Bently's and a few Roll Royces would be there. They had leather over the leaf springs and a fill connector for oil.

Quietest ride ever.

So yes it works..

Apply spray grease white librally to springs while frame is supported.

Wrap in heavy plastic and duck tape..
