metal vs fiberglass bass boat

After 10 years of golf I'm getting back into competitive
bass fishing. Without breaking the bank which boat
would recent bass fishermen recommend.
I've looked at Express (metal hull) or looking for
a used Ranger.
Any advantages or disadvantages on fiberglass vs
metal.
I really only want a 150hp.

I will never go back to metal. I have a glasstream hydrabass and its an awsome boat. It looks almost just like the Nitro 640lx fiberglass boats are much better fishing platforms in my opinion. get a nitro!! thats what my next boat will be. but i'm perfecty happy with my glasstream.

I think it depends on how much money you want to spend. If you're on a limited budget, I think you get more for your money with an aluminum boat. Let's say you're looking at spending 12-14 grand. You'll get a lot more boat for that money in aluminum. No it won't preform like a glass boat, but it will preform better than a glass boat you can get for that price. (Assuming you're comparing new to new) A 17 foot aluminum boat with a 70-90 hp engine is a better buy than a 15-16 foot glass boat with a probably smaller engine for the same money.

If howerver you're talking about an 18-20 foot boat with a 150-225 or bigger outboard, I don't see any reason to buy an aluminum one. I know there are a lot of good aluminum boats out there that fit into that catagory, but I think glass will out-perform them everytime, and the cost difference isn't enought to swing my opinion to aluminum.

One thing to keep in mind is an aluminum boat is a lot lighter than a fiberglass one-good when trailering it, but if you are fishing in any wind it will blow around a lot worse than a fiberglass boat will. Here in Texas the wind is always a factor, so I got a fiberglass hull and have not regretted it at all.
