Default Great day on the lake

Went out today for 5 hours, caught 4 northern pikes on Berkeley ripple shad and caught 12 bass nothing over two pounds, saw about 5 bass that look over 5 lbd but would not bite, I try ripple shad and wacky senko but nothing, also saw : huge crappie that would not bite, I'm wonder what I can try next time to get them bass to bite

Try a crankbait, or bigger spinner bait, that is what i catch most of my bigger bass on.

I would also try a drop shot if they are on the bed. Use a short leader and maker it look like it is feeding on the bed be sure to wear good glasses.

I have caught a lot of northern pike on jerk baits made for bass, but you have to use a wire leader or else it gets expensive!

P.S. You'll still catch a lot of bass and walleye on the jerk bait too, even with the wire leader. You need it if you fish northern waters as you say!

Where are you from Al? I'm in northern Indiana and the bass still have not bedded yet. Probably won't till mid may. The bigger bass were hitting crankbaits today in mid depth weedbeds and submerged laydowns.
