Default props

Greetings all. I have a 16.5 ft G3 with a Yamaha 50hp 4 stroke.New 05 model. I want to get a ss prop. I'm more intrested in torke than speed so I figure a 3 blade over a 4 blade. My question is how do I go about ordering the right size prop ? Is there a pitch dif.? I'm hopeing for a better hole shot. Thanks Glass Man

GLASSMAN,
If you are wanting torque instead of speed, you have it bass-ackwards. The four blade prop will give you better hole shot, the three blade will give you more speed.
You can contact several of the prop makers for info about size and pitch for your motor, or contact the dealer.

glass man
i went with a ss prop from cabeleas 219 bucks i an currantly haveing my aluminum re done -like 35 bucks to have it fixed- i went up one pitch size to 101/4X14 as i really have a decent hole shoot with just me in the boat-which is about 95% of the time. i went for more top end it also elimated a very slight skip at wot-but it is a yammaha cold blooded beast- one question do you have the high thrust 50-4 stroke- the high thrust moter has a very funny lower gear arrangment compared to the other 50 yammy's.it takes a completely differant prop that has to be dealer ordered.
