On a lake like this if the waters in the 50's or low 60's I'd hit the points outside of the smallest little coves. Seems most fisherman on the lake usually will hit the major coves i.e. more pressure and leave the small ones alone. All of the mentioned baits are great.

Wow, okay now seeing the close up I see what he means, about a million choices there. I'd target the ones around the deepest water, in that photo only looks like a few deeper areas, that might make them stand out.

That's 1/3 of lake. 3/4 of lake is just like that toward the dam. Talk about confusion BUT if it was me I'd hit the one that has a point with channel swing nearby. Like others stated, on left hand side from take off there a small cove toward north with channel close by.

So true about the channel, I see a lot of pros talk about when everything looks the same find what is different. Most if the time its a little deeper depression with the same cover.

Well, the wife and I got to the lake Saturday morning, and started fishing about 8:30. There are 6,798,123,956 different pieces of cover in this lake. I know...I counted them all, and I think I hit most of them with the boat. We got stuck on stumps 8-10 times in the 5 hours we were there. There were also 423 boats there. We just about had to take a number to fish the "good" spots.

There was a good 10-15 mph wind most of the day, and pretty solid cloud cover early, that started breaking up at about 11 or so. So, I figured this is the perfect day to throw a spinnerbait. Tried that for a while, lost one of them to piece of cover # 2,132,178,952 after about 10 minutes, tied on another, nothing. The wife threw a smaller spinner for a while, then switched to a 4" swimbait, nothing for her either. Paca Craw...nothing. Jig with Baby Paca Craw trailer...nothing. 6" lizard...nothing.

Skunked. We didn't catch a thing, not even a strike. We talked to a couple people out there, only one person said he caught anything, and that was a short fish early right by the ramp. I guess the lake is just so heavily pressured the fish are really shy. Oh, well, that's why they call it fishing, not catching. We'll try again in a couple weeks, maybe.

Oh yeah John, there were several bigger boats out there. Slow and steady wins the race, though.

Thats alot of pressure for a lake that size, okay I bet that lake gets more jigs, and spinnerbaits thrown at it then about any lake. Everyone there probably thinks weedless or snagless baits, try ones people don't think of as snagless, maybe a crank. I use to fish mine in trees and stick ups, sure sometimes you get snagged but I caught fish. Most other angles I saw had spinner baits on or were flippin jigs and saying how few fish they caught. With that pressure I'm sure the key is something they have not seen or not much of. Just a thought.

Hate to double post but I just thought of something, I might of read on here. I guy said if he took the tail hook off his rattle traps it made them pretty much snagless, makes sence do to the angle they come through the water. The tail hook is in the open and the bottom hook is shielded by the bait, he also said it did not effect hook ups that he could tell. I've never tried it but this lake seems like a good test.

Ever since JB told me about the use of Plug Knockers to release any lures that may have become snagged, I have been able to recover 99% of my lures. By the way it sounds those PLug Knockers will get alot of use out there on that lake for sure.

We've only got room for 1 couple here at the house, but if'n anybody else wants to find a hotel to sleep at, come on. There's several decent ones close to here. Bubba Bruiser, Abu4600, WTL, anybody...

We have a knocker, and a extendable pole retriever. Tho the pole takes up valuable space, it paid for itself on our 2nd fishing trip this year. I also use it to retrieve jigs, I know most people just break em off, but I throw the evolution jigs most of the time and that can get expensive quick.
