Default Is this boat worth it?

Alright guys and gals -- I am looking at buying my first bass boat. I want to get something good right off the bat and have my eye on one in particular. Let me know if you think it is worth the 25K he is asking. Thanks for the input.

Welcome from another SE Michigan guy. That is a nice looking boat, how much is that new compared to the 25+k he's asking?

From what I can tell, it is almost $10K off the new price.

I'd say it's worth it, the motor alone must be about 12K retail. A 2002 year model with only 32 hours on the motor....I'm assuming all the bells and whistles are there and working, Yeah, it's worth it, but is it the best deal you can find from a private party for the money...I don't know. It's alot more boat and motor than what I got on my 2006 Ranger VS175. If you like it, and tired of shopping around, and your able to take it out for a test run....I'd say...go for it. I paid just over 24K for my Ranger, but it has a F115 Yamaha on it.

Use the blue book on it. Then offer him a price based off that. I saw the same boat when I was bouncin websites. I like stratos boats, and the price seems pretty standard for that year and options.

I thinkt hat price is a little high. You can get a brand new Skeeter ZX200 dual console with a 200 hpdi for only 30,000 before taxes, ect. I mean you can pay a few thousand dollars more and get a brand new boat. That boay is only a 2002 which puts it at 4 years old and isn't worth more than $20,000, spec with an EFI.

You can't buy a new boat that is similar to that for $25K. I am building an extra garage at the moment too -- so that expense is limiting my capability to buy whatever I want.

First off thats about the going price for that year boats that originally sold over 32 when new and off the top of my head that boat woulda neeb in the neighborhood of 35,500 to 37,000 with all the extras I saw on the boat. Hell its got a 1000 dollar jackplate and high end electronics on it. The EFI is a excellant motor and will give you years of good service if you do appropiate pm on it. If you font you looking at 3500 to 5500 depending on how bad you blow the power head. Kepp good clean fuel going to her and LET HER WARM UP IN COLD WATER. DO NOT take right off after putting the boat in cold water or see above prices. The trailer also has extras as well. If it where me I would give it a try to offer him say 22,500 cash and see what the response would be. You might be surprised. There is a reason why he is selling and the motor only has 32 hours on it. HE NEEDS MONEY is the first thought and he dont use the boat. After the ride if your interested take it to a dealer and let them hook her up and give you a computer readout on the motor.

That is a good point around here laser. With the Ford plant in Wixom closing and GM, Delphi, etc. cutting back so much there are a lot of deals out there. I picked up another old VW for really cheap last fall. Real estate prices are going down too.

Thanks for the info -- I just moved back to Michigan. I am currently back and forth between Boston and Michigan so it has been tough to get it done. Hopefully all works out this weekend!

Just got through going to nada and the boat alone if it is that good of shape retails for 22500 and the motor is 7850. Evemn on the low range it still comes in at 23000. Im sure the bank would go for it especially with the upgrades its got.

I did the samething Lazer did and the blue book #'s said between 21,000 and 27,000. I'd offer him somewhere in the neighborhood of 22,500. Unless there is a big market for that boat in your area he may bite.

Default For that kind....

of money you could get a tricked out ranger, basscat, etc.

I'm not a big stratos fan personally.

If I were you I would shop around. Lots of boats being sold online.

For that kind of money, you really open your options up. I'd spend a few days shopping before I decided on that boat. I put stratos in the same category as nitro. Rangers and Cats IMO are much better quality boats, have better resale and so forth. My best advice- don't buy the boat theres much better on the market for that price tag. Just my .02cents.
