Default People Eating Tasty Animals PETA

Did you know hooking a fish like a bream is the same thing as hooking a dog with a fish hook? According to a group with the name People for the equatable treatment of animals, (PETA) fish feel pain the same as dogs and even people Facts don’t seem to bother them much.

I have often hooked bream in my pond and tried this. As soon as I released pressure on them, they swam around naturally with the hook in their mouth, trailing loose line. As soon as I pulled on the line they fought against the pressure. Several times I have broken my line and seen bream feeding the next day with a hook in their mouth. They didn’t seem to be in any pain!
PETA’s latest ad campaign is "Don’t let kids become hookers." They go after parents, saying "Parents who fish send their children the message that it’s acceptable to torment and kill animals." They even had a "National Fish Amnesty Day" one year.
In a press release they say: "Parents should get their kids hooked on compassion, not on maiming and killing fish," said PETA campaigner Hayden Hamilton. "Causing these gentle animals of the sea to suffocate to death or die slowly from infections caused by hooks is animal abuse, plain and simple."
All that ignores the fact that nature is not kind and gentle and fish eat other fish. Some of these "kind and gentle animals" will slash though baitfish, maiming as many as possible and returning to eat the injured. A bass will eat a duckling, a frog, other fish and pretty much anything it can get in its mouth.
PETA claims "Fish are intelligent, sensitive animals who experience stress and pain." OK. Define "intelligence" for me. What does it take to be intelligent? The ability to find food? Learning to avoid hooks? For some reason the vision of a school of fish taking an IQ test comes to mind.
I never abuse animals of any kind. If I kill something to eat I kill it as quickly and painlessly as possible. But PETA just thinks hooking a fish is abuse. I will never agree with that mantra.
I wish these folks would stick with strong beliefs that everything has feelings. Including plants. If plants feel pain, they should not be killed and eaten. So PETA fanatics should never eat anything that has ever been alive. And what about drinking water. City water is purified, meaning chlorine is put in it to kill all those poor little one celled animals called bacteria. But you can drink untreated water, right? Not so fast. If you do your stomach acid will murder those helpless little bacteria. So a true believer should never eat or drink anything. I think the world would be a much kinder, gentler place without them and their yammering!!

Man do I like the way this guy thinks!!!

I think if all mankind followed the teaching of PETA, we would become extinct from starvation. They are a real piece of work. I've often heard gardeners talk about talking to their plants. They say it helps them grow because the plants like it. So wouldn't it be cruel to pick a bushel of corn?

I've often wondered just how much pain a fish feels.

Personally I think they feel very little pain.
I once caught a pike on a crankbait, and the 2nd treble was embedded in his eye.
He never flinched, even when I pulled the hook out of the eye.
I woulda been squirmin, kickin and screamin!

I've caught bass on spinnerbaits, and the hook was actually through the roof of their mouth and out the top of their head.
The fish didn't seem to feel it all.

Personally, I detest any large group that constantly tries to impose their will on others, but PETA tops the list

I think these peta folks should go to the inner cities and campaign to stop all the murder and drug use. Good Lord did you hear what happened in Philly? A mother got on a bus and her 2 yr old ran away from her as she was paying. When she was done and caught up with the kid she hit him and yelled. A passenger told her he was going to report her for abuse. She got on her cell and made a call. A few stops down the road a bunch of teenagers opened up on the bus with auto weapons. Now if there was a peta member on the bus they could have stopped the parent from hitting the kid. Instead they want to tell kids their parents are no good for catching a fish? Crazy world.

Fishing and hunting are 2 of the greatest ways to keep kids out of trouble

PETA members have also been charged with domestic terrorism for bombing testing facilities that use animals for testing. I know a couple of them got charged with animal cruelty because they were driving around in a van and adopting puppies and euthanising them in their van and throwing them in a dumpster. Their reasoning was that it was better for them to dead than to be "enslaved" (adopted and made someone's pet). I don't know about you but when I get home my dog doesn't react like I would expect an animal held against it's will to react.

They are a bunch of idiots. Just from last week to put a story with what bluebasser said.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/nathan...comm_ref=false

They have been doing this for years, all they want to do it complain, cause controversy, and rake in the dough. Just look at their advertising, essentially porn so they can pat themselves on the back and take donors money.

They are idiots, I just don't give them the time of day. I nicely argued with them a few years ago in DC, they people running the booth were not very smart though, so it wasn't much fun.

Thank you for that link, aiken.
That's the first time I've heard of them doing this.

Here is the part that pissed me off the most:

The PETA solution: dead "feral" cats in a Florida shelter. PETA successfully defeated SB 1320, a law that would have clarified that nonlethal programs to neuter and release feral cats, rather than killing them, are legal in Florida. As shelters and health departments nationwide embrace trap-neuter-release programs, PETA remains a stalwart opponent of this humane alternative to killing, arguing that healthy feral cats should continue to be killed, even urging their supporters to take them to shelters or veterinarians to do so. The PETA website states that, "the most compassionate choice is to euthanize feral cats. You can ask your veterinarian to do this or, if your local shelter uses an injection of sodium pentobarbital, take the cats there." This shelter used "an injection of sodium pentobarbital," killing the cats in front of other cats, catch-poling the cats as they tried to flee while they urinated and defecated all over the kennel in fear. That is how terrified feral cats behave in shelters. Apparently to PETA, this is as it should be.

This is a link to an incredible non profit organization in Las Vegas.
http://www.hcws.org/

If someone can no longer keep their animal, HCW will adopt it, and find a home for it.
If a home isn't found, HCW holds onto that animal for good.

Some of the dogs they adopt are sent to the womens correctional facility in Vegas, where inmates can learn to train the dogs. If the inmates get in trouble, they are removed from the program, so not only are the inmates helping the dogs, but the dogs are helping the inmates.

HCW holds a yard sale every saturday, and one 4 day yard sale every month. Everything in the yard sale is donated, and the time put in by the volunteers is 100% donated.

They also have a volunteer feral cat clinic once a month.
Volunteers trap the wild cats and take em to the clinic. Then volunteer vets, vet techs, veterinary students and average every day people from all walks of life give em shots to make em docile....shave the privates and give them shots for their health...clean teeth and ears, remove cysts and the like, and they get spayed or neutered.
Each animal wears a tag thoughout the process, so they go back into the exact same cage they came in, and released where they were originally trapped.

It's a great thing they're doing and they usually go through 300 or more cats at each clinic.

Amazing how PETA cares about cash, and non profits care about the animals
