Default How do you pronounce "lure"?

Well, my mother and I have an on-going argument on how to pronounce the word lure.

I say it like: lue-er (loo-er)

And she says it like: loor (loooor, rhymes with shure)

How do you guys say it?

"Lure"; depends on where you are from, but rhyming with "sure" is fine.
Actually, almost everyone mispronounces "Rapala", usually accenting the second syllable, like "rah-PAh-lah". In fact, the word is Finnish and the surname of Lauri Rapala, the creator of the original Rapala lure.
Actually, the accent should be on the first syllable..."RAH-pah-lah", taking a millisecond less to speak than with the erroneous and common manner.

That will be all, boys and girls, and remember to bring a nice shiny apple for Ol' Teechur tomorrow.

loor looks too odd, it should be written lou-er in the dictionary pronunciation part

It is not a two sylable word, so lue-er would not be correct. But since I was told I don't have a accent from all the locals down here in the South, what do I know rotfl. LURE, SURE, PURE, all one sylable's. Not SURE if I spelled sylable correct though rotfl

being from the south, i say "bait" (regardless of live or artificial) and i say creek. But only if it's to deep to wade, otherwise it's a "draw".

Wink

We could settle this easily if we replaced "lure" with "that little hooky thingie at the end of the string." Ever think of THAT? NO! Of course you didn't. Once again, it was up to me to find the solution.

ifin= if. but a little different. "ifin y'all are inter-ested, we got a mitey purty littul crick down the way fur fishin in."= "If you (plural) are interested, there is a nice, smallish body of flowing water a few miles down the road that you're welcome to fish in."

and I say loo-er. just wonderin- when you say "anit" do you pronounce it that way too?
