Default stupid question

OKay, I know this is a stupid question, but what part of the catfish can sting you? Just wondering because I saw a catfish come up to the shore of my pond during a feeding frenzy.

Thanx

Smallfry, In the front side fins are sharp bones that will stick in your hand and will leave a stinging feeling. They don't actually sting you. P N J

It may not sting you, but get one of those spines stuck in you and it is extremely painful. Whatever the fish has on it's spines can infect the wound, and it feels almost like a sting.

People commonly think that the whiskers are stingers, but they are not.

larger cat fish have blunted spines most over 15 pounds can really be a hand full to hang on to with one hand. so i use the out side spine to control the fish.

The front top fin of a brown bullhead does have some venom in it.

I imagine that would hurt.

The bigger cats like blues, flatheads, and channels you can usually just stick your hand in.
