Braid by a long shot, if you dont use braid go with flourocarbon, if you are flipping you want something with little to no strech, to get a good hookset and you can get them out of the cover

Braid for heavy cover, Fluoro for lighter cover or SUPER clear water. Never mono.

Just my opinion by the way.

Sorry forgot to add:

Braid:30lb test
Fluoro:15-17lb test
Mono:never. (the only thing I use mono for is topwater and crankbait.)

I used to fish water where I could see 30ft down to the bottom, but I fished with braid in that super clear water and in the spring when they were up shallow it didn't matter I caught just as many fish with the braid as the flouro, but if it's heavy fishing pressrure I would fo with flouro

I agree guys..heavy braid for flipping jigs in cover....although sometimes flouro works too when your just kind of swimming a jig through the cover...maybe 15lb.....but then again mono is not bad if your just using a top water on top of the cover....it's all good....

In a word, nope. Remember, you are going after a reaction bite, so the fish doesn't take a lot of time to look at a bait that drops on his nose. He just grabs it. Braid allows you to drag a good fish out of the nastiest cover that will shred mono.

For bass, I'll take braid over mono whenever I can get away with it, or else use a fluorocarbon leader tied to the braid with an Albright Special or double uni-knot.

I've become very spoiled by braid's low stretch and high sensitivity!

In super clear water, however, lose the braid, but I doubt you do flippin' in such.

Never had much luck when I go braid to flouro much! I'll agree with the double uni/uni-to-uni though, the best I've found so far!

Only problem I have with flipping or pitching braid is setting the hook on a stump, rock, or laydown. It's just too painful so now I use 20 to 25lb mono. Works just fine for me especially with the rods I use. Only problem I'm having is with one of my reels. The drag system or line is slipping when I hook bigger fish. Got to figure that out this year.
