Transducer mounting.
I need to get a new depth finder and am trying to decide between a perminent mounted model or a portable. I will be using it in my 12 foot lonboat. The wider variety often called a lake jon. Anyways, I can go with a trolling motor mount for the transducer, or mount it perminently and just remove the depthfinders body for when it's not oin use. I store my jonboat outdoors where anyone could steel the depthfinder. I had a bassboat once and of course my transducer was mounted flush with the bottom of the boat against the back of the boat. Why not do the same on a jonboat?

That's what I did. I have the equivelant to the lake jon, mine's a smokercraft. Screwed it in there with screws, and caulked the crap out of it. I pulled the screws out and put caulk in there too before I finally tightened them down.
Just take the head unit off the mount and take it indoors when you park the boat. it's two quick connections to put it back on |
