Default New 2 Me

Well as some of you know I have been looking for a new to me boat for a while now. Today was the day, found a boat that met all my needs and was in my price range. Take it out on the water this Tuesday and barring anyting major I will be the new owner.

1998 20ft Astro x2000 200HP Merc EFI

Appreciate the nice comments, I was able to start it today just to check the impellar and wanted to hear it idle. Started right up and had no problems keeping idle. Seller said that he has had it over 70mph at a local lake, with a little room left on the Hot Foot.

Hope it runs as well as he says.

Good looking boat Tony. You must be jacked up. What's the plans for the Winner?

Not sure about what to do with the Winner. I have put some money into it and dont know if I would be able to get what I would want for it. There is a guy I work with that keeps asking me to sell it to him, so I might just take him up on his offer.

I will take some good pictures of her, maybe you guys can help me figure what a good selling price would be.

Tony, have the owner do an on water fill of the livewell. Check to make sure the pump fills the well and then circulates as it's suposed to. Open the rear hatch and make sure no water is leaking or pouring out from the lines to the well. In our area, it's common for boats to have broken lines from freezing water that wasn't drained properly. Also, have him show you how to close the valve that holds the water in the tank while on plane or on the trailer. That should keep the well full on plane and then allow the well to drain on the trailer by opening the valve. Any problems there can be fixed but will affect the value. Also check the bilge pump and running lights etc. Hope everything checks out fine. Call me if you have any questions about anything.

Well today was a day of mixed emotions, the deal on the Astro fell through, but I tend to believe that things happen for a reason so I went with plan B and purchased a different boat, I had looked at this boat early in my shopping and made an offer to the owner, he took a long time to get back with me, but we were eventually able to strike a deal. This is a smaller boat with less HP, but for the fishing I do it may actually be a little better suited. Anyway here is a few pics of my new boat.

2005 Nitro 882NX DC 18ft 115HP Merc.

Let me know what you think, good or bad, don't worry I can handle it.

This boat is clean as a whistle and everything works as advertised.

Very sharp looking boat Tony. It looks like a very clean boat and I am sure you will be able to enjoy it for a long long time. I am the sort of guy that really appreciates the little things that make a boat more fun to fish out of, and I noticed one of these neat little things in your boat already. I really like how the storage lids have straps rather than metal handles. not only are they easier on bare feet, but you don't have to worry about them having to be turned a certain way to be able to close the compartment. Every boat I have owned has had metal handles and man they kill my feet.

Congrats again on the new ride and I hope you are able to avoid the new boat slump. I was plagued with it when I bought my Ranger but I caught a limit in 45 minutes in my first trip in my Triton so I dodged a bullet there. Good luck and have fun with her.

That is a nice looking boat man. Glad you got it on the rebound so quick. I don't have a boat but I know anyone fishing with you will say 5 hail Tacos for the dual console. The only thing I ever heard about the early and mid 2000 Nitros through guys on here was that they had thin hulls. But man it looks clean for your price range you set and if you are happy, I am happy for you.

well the only thing i hate it for you IS the duel consoles. oyu may like it, i kow the partner will, lol. but me personally i don't. but it IS a very clean nice looking rig. and i do like the straps, my ol rig had metal handles and they tend to stay up at the most inconvienant times, hahaha. i quit going sock footed or bare footed REAL quick. HAHAHA. LET US KNOW HOW SHE DOES OUT ON THE WATER MAN.

i too heard about the thin hulls, ol zooker was adamant about it.

Personally, I think it's a better fit for you. It will be plenty fast for the lakes you fish. It's big enough to take to a large resevoir but will get better gas economy than a 20ft 200 hp. I know, mine sucks gas like a hoover.

Appreciate all the comments, now I just need to add a couple of good quality fish finders and a three bank charger and she will be ready. I have already purchased one fish finder, I was able to get what I consider a good deal on a HB 788C, it is the older model, with the external GPS, but at $350 new in the box, I was not going to pass it up.

When I talked Britney into buying a new boat the last time she laid down the law and said that I can only get a new boat if it has dual consoles. I honestly didn't think I would like them, I thought they would take up too much room. But I can honestly say that I love the dual consoles and don't see me ever having a boat with out them. In the old days yeah they took up a lot of room, but now days they have come so far that they don't take away much room if any and I love having the glove box to keep things handy. Plus I think boats just look better with dual consoles. I think you will love that graph and you got it at a great price.
