Default right to left, left to right

It pains me to see right-handed fisherman spend money on a right handed reel and vice versa for you lefties. I have so many friends who do this. Please convert before you pay for a device that can limit your bass fishing skills.

I am right handed, and I reel right handed on baitcasters and spinning reels.

Yea, so did I. When i changed over it made a world of a difference. The message wasn't intended to put down anybody. Does anyone agree. I leave the explaining to you.

Let me see. Â*I cast with my right hand, (casting reel) Â*I switch hands (usually while the bait is in the air) and hold the rod in my left hand, and retrieve with my right hand. Â*With a spinning rod, I cast with my right hand, and retrieve with my left. Â*Seems to work for me. Â*Of course I've only been doing it for 40? years or so. Â*

On the other hand, it doesn't bother a bit what kind of reel someone else uses.

I hear this a lot, but it doesn't really make much sense. If you are like me and palm your reel when using a baitcaster, it doesn't matter how you cast or reel, you're going to end up moving the reel around in your hands.

Reguardless of what hand you cast or reel with....I dont think you will be limited really as long as you are used to the way you use your equipment.

Dang, Cajun-if you didn't add the 40 years part I would have sworn you did a cut and paste from an old thread I posted somewhere ;D Â*I do the EXACT same thing. Â*I knew there was a reason I liked you

No need for me to switch-been casting and reeling like that for so long it is automatic.

dear lord, now I have heard it all. The hand you reel with hinders your fish catching abilities. Come on guys. Lets all use a little common sense here.

I like to use a left handed reel when I flip or pitch to make the action a little smoother.

I find different hand retrieves suit different applications for me. I use both left and right, all depending on what technique I am employing. Unless I am using spincast, then I always reel with my left.

Didn't we have this discussion a few months back? I think most of us are probably comfortable doing whatever we're doing and that changing would not help much as far as efficiency, hooksets, etc.

Being able to cast ambidextrously though, would permit casting at different angles to objects...and would definitely be an advantage.

If it aint broke why try to fix it. All boils down to what you do and how you do it. I try to reel with my feet so I can drink more milk while out fishin. Dang wrong thread need to back up one. 8)

My husband tells me that i cast backwards! I don't mind at all, this is how i am comfortable fishing. I also can tell our rod and reels apart

Once you have fooled you brain into thinking it can do it either way it becomes no sweat. Like anything else you don't pick up a violin and expect to play it right away, all you need to do is practice.

The doctor told me this feat was impossible, seeing I was only born with half a brain, but my snoopy button cast works fine! I wish I could cas it either way.

Zilla, is that with the 3 ft fiberglass pole or did you put out the extra and go a little heavier? 8)
