Default Swim Baits

I just watch ESPN Bass Center. They spotlighted swim baits. They said they were popular in California. Anybody use them? If so, let me know the usuals- how, when, where, why. Thanks guys.

If you´re on the hunt of a bigun swimbaits are your ticket, but, keep in mind that you will cast for hours and days without even getting a follow up.

I use them. It all depends on if you use a good company. A lot of the HUGE companies swimbaits don't have action. Action is key with these lures.

I have fished them all summer to catch 3 bass on them. All 3 fish were caught on the outside weed edge.I alternate baits fishing the outside weed edge so they have had plenty of oppertunity to catch fish, but haven't.I fished primary points where there are fish stacked up on points and nothing. I have fished senko baits or jigs back through where I fished the swim bait and caught fish.Maybe I don't know how to fish them correctly. P N J

they are good at rip rap fishing but they tend to find every tree limb ,branch, log, and hangup in it.. even if you "think" there is a tree limb there they will find it.. they work bounced -like a pnj-or jigged off bottom like a jigging spoon.or a steady crank.. i like the 3-5" ones with the ribbon tail the booted tail kinda sucks..

You got that right! One of my buddies calls it the Snag-O-Lure. Wonder why that is?

it's definately not a numbers bait, but does good at seperating the big fish from the smaller ones.

I used swimbaits made by Optimum and one was called the Titan and it has a weed and brush guard in front of the hook. I have caught probably 6-8 good bass on it in the few times I have used it. Swim them slow and hold on to the rod so the big un don't rip it out of your hands. I want to warn you to let the fish have the bait for about 3-4 seconds before setting the hook because I have missed a few by setting the hook to soon.
