As long as the fraying has occurred above the knot on the loose end you donīt need to worry.

What Brand of braid did you buy. There are lot's of shall we say, less than good brands. And some are more durable than others. Also were you using a bait that will twist the line, IE a fluke, or weightless worm?

Have to agree with bassintom to a degree on this. Sounds like you might have a problem there and oughta get it fixed before it costs you a big one.

On this note for those that dont know how to check out there guides to see if they are worn cracked or whatever. Take a cotten ball and roll it between your fingers and pull it through the guide. After doing this check inspect each guide to see if any of the cotton fibers where left behind. Make sure that the cotton fibers are being held buy the insert in the guide and that you didnt get it hung up on the guide frame itself. If you show no signs of wear sounds like you got a bad spool of line and better remove it.

if you are talking about the tag end of the knot that always happens.this is why you should superglue the knot.

Sometimes I'll use a small lighter to fuse the tag end of the braid.

I put a drop of glue on my knot and use a lighter to melt the line together so the tag end doesn't fray.

Ditto It drives me crazy seeing a long tag end on a tied bait/hook Using a lighter makes me extremly nervous, due to the heat getting too close to the line and hook, and the possibilities that entails. Get a good pair of scissors, and use a Palomar knot, and you won't have these problems. The glue is also a very good idea Just MY OPINION.

I'm with ya lizzy on this one. No lighter for me. I do however since I smoke will use the tip of the cig to put a burr on the tagend before I pull it up tight. So far never slipped a knot or frayed.
