Default Trolling motor trouble

I have a MotorGuide 55# transom mount troll motor on my jonboat. It has 5 forward speeds and two reverse speeds. Reverse is low and high. Today, out on the water, the reverse high speed seems to have gone out. I am NOT mechanically inclined fellas, so wondering if anyone has any idea what the problem might be. The forward speeds seem to be ok. But I only get low in reverse now.

Keith, it might be the speed controller is going out. I have had similar problems with an older model I used to have and had to replace it. It wasn't too difficult if I remember correctly.

You may need to take it in and see if you can get the problem diagnosed.

Even better, try calling Motorguide and see if they can point you in the right direction.
