Default 1pc. rod or 2pc rod?

like to know if there are advantages/disadvantages from 1 over the other, i am going to be pole shopping this weekend.
im leaning in the direction of a 6-6mh, just wasnt sure if i should be looking at 1 piecers or 2... the 2 poles i currently have are both 2 pc. and and probably only 5'6" long, thats why im looking to get a new rod, these are on the short side

Go with the one piece if you can. With a 2 piece the joint is a weak spot and the guides can get twisted out of alignment. The one piece is a stronger rod IMO.

Definetly a 1 piece, the rod will get twisted on the 2 piece.

Go with the 1 piece. It'll hold up better when you catch the really big fish.

I would say it depends on who is fishing them. The 1 pieces has better strength, but the 2 pieces give you more versatility on where you can store and haul them. I own some 2 piece rods and love them because a one piece wouldn't fit in my car. I have a truck now, but when I was driving just a car I could fit my rods in the trunk and no have to lay them across my seats.

Go with what you can afford and have room for.

If storage and transportation aren't problems, one-piece probably gets the edge. However, two-piece rods have come a long way since the days of the steel ferrule.

I use one-piece for the most part, but still have a couple of two-piece Daiwas and an Ugly Stik and they never twist or come apart. I suspect if you have a decent two-piece that stays together, a typical average fisherman would barely notice the difference, if he even notices at all.

One piece are nice, but if you cant fit it in your car...two piece is fine as well!

To keep the redundancy alive, a one piece would be better, stronger, and will feel more bites as it being one piece makes it more sensitive. The two piece rods appeal to me because I keep my rods in my vehicle ALL THE TIME. Most of the time I can store them full length in the vehicle, but sometimes when I have a lot of gear or crap, its convient to be able to break them down. Just have to figure out what is more important to you.

Like Rodman Rob, I carry a small 2-piece spinning rig with me all of the time. However, it is the only 2-piece rod that I own that is not a fly rod. All of my rods that get the real use are 1-piece jobs.

You'll feel the bite better with a one piece rod
two piece rods are kmart specials and usually spinnning type rods imo
Sure I think we probably all started with a two piece rod but you'll notice that every bill, roland, or orlando out there in TV land uses a one piece rod..WHY? you ask.. it all has to do with sensitivity and the molecular makeup of the blank in polamers
If 2 piece rod is all ya can afford..go for it!
I just think that once you start to fine tune you equip. you'll go with the one piece blank..
lots of the 7ft flippin' sticks have a telescoping butt end so that you can get it in the rod locker. but its still considered a one piece rod

well, i find when shore fishing, and you need to get thru thick woods, or just trees, or for transportation, a 2pc. is great. if you get a good solid one, then they are good. now i have 2 2pc rods, and they are ok, but recently i have gone to 1 pc just because lately i havnt done as much wondering thru the woods, and i find 2pc are alittle stronger.
