Norman SPEED CLIPS for me. I remove the split rings from all my treble hook baits (except those which have the wire set really deep in the lip, or face on topwaters). Very easy to change baits for color, depth or style - and I change ofter until one starts produscing.

It doesn't eliminate re-tying, as the line still must be checked for fraying during the day, but it cuts down on a lot of knots. I found when I was tying on baits a lot, I tended to hurry tying my knot, which led to knot failures - the speed clips have virtually eliminated that issue for me. I don't tie near as often so I tend to slow that down and do it correctly.

Personally I like the Duo Lock snaps for most crank baits and small top water baits. I feel the snap allows the bait a lot more freedom of movement and more action. On large swim baits and big crank baits to found using a cross loc snap works great when dealing with bigger fish, and heavier cover and again allow the bait a lot more action in the water.

With most spinnerbaits and buzzbaits having an R bend where you tie the line and not a loop bent into the wire how do you keep the the snap from slipping out of the R bend?

I tried the Norman clips. I find them a little to hard to use due to big fingers and stiffness in my fingers. I'll have to try the duolock. They look easier to use.

The eyes are the first thing to go...usually..I dislike re-tying but I do it anyway. I use clips on everything except soft plastics and jigs. I used a rattletrap with a clip(see pic) all holiday weekend and caught about 25-30 bass in 47 degree water.

Don't sleep on eye problems. They come gradually, and can leave you almost blind without realizing it. My Dad had struggled to fish for the past few years, and earlier this year my aunt made him go to the optomotrist; turns out he had both cataracts and glaucoma.

Got the lazer surgery and eyedrops for the glaucoma and he is close to 20-20, says he now knows why he couldn't cast over 20 feet without getting hung up - he was blind.

When I am quickly changing out cranks to dial in on a color or depth, I will use the duo-lock snaps like BB144 was showing. Once I settle in on the color and depth then I tie directly to the split ring with a Palomar (it's a mental thing with me, dumb but just something I do).
