Default Bed fishing presentation

Well it's almost that time again. Just wondering what your favorite bait/presentation is for spawning fish on beds is.

I always have two items rigged up when bed fishing.
The first is a matt's lure gill. This year I switched over to his U2 gills. Because they are a little smaller and I find that the bass take them deeper in their mouths.

While the Matt's gills are awesome, there are times when the bait can get their attention, but they won't commit to it. When this happens, I toss in a nail weighted IKA. This will usually trigger a massive strike after they have nipped at the gill a few times.

Hi Syd... bed fishing is one of my favorite times of year. We have a Bed Fishing Guide that goes in-depth on the subject. I also share my favorite bed fishing tactics and lures during the spawn.

As mentioned in the guide... one of my all-time favorite bed fishing lures is the River2Sea Super Yabbie. It also makes a great search bait for bedding bass.

Drop shot is it for me. I haven't bed fished for a couple years since I missed the time last year when I was moving but I hope to get out soon down South and I hope I haven't missed it. I like to use a little 3" goby that we make, but I imagine that any small fish looking bait would work. Most of the people I know use tubes though, but they haven't tried drop shotting beds.

I've also had luck with a tube or lizard fished really near the beds, they seem to think it's a good idea to kill the bait before it gets to 'em. I've also had allot of luck fishing a top water frog over the beds.

I probably go for the lizard trigged and pegged with a 3/16 - 1/8 oz. weight most of the time. I read recently about useing a hollowbodied frog over the beds and plan on trying that this year.

Always wanted to try bed fishing ,just figgured dragging that bed would be a pia.
Often this time of year we are bed fishing just dont know it,and tossing a frog over them gets a commode flush however they dont generally eat it swat it,as they just want it to go away. With the new skitter legs mod on capt kens designer bass frogs and a double hook stinger I have landed a few, again most are trying to shoo it or scare it or kill it not eat it.Same bass that threw the hooks fifteen min later will swat at it again, that sorta tells you its bed is in that area of lilly pads as always in a ten ft area.

Huddle bug, a Matt lures bluegill (they will hit it when they ignore everything else), and a 2" berkley swimbait. If they won't hit any of those they just aren't catchable.

While watching FLW on TV this weekend, one of the guys was doing something that I thought was interesting. He marked the bed with a wooden dowel. It appeared to be about 1/4" by 3 foot tall. This allowed him to move further from the bed than normal. He then proceeded to back the boat off and target the dowel until he got bit.
