Default Magnum flukes

I have been having good luck on the Arkansas Shiner colored magnum flukes by Zoom. But I have been missing a few here and there due to what I believe to be hook size. I always use a 5/0 hook for standard flukes and magnums but I'm starting to think I may need to go with a 6/0 for magnums.

Does anyone else have this problem?

a 6/0 ewg or 7/0 will work. I run a 5/0 in std flukes but there isn't enough gap to let the bait ball up and still get a good hookset with the magnums.

I always use a 5/0 EWG for Magnum Flukes but I think a big Owner Beast with a screw lock might be a good option for the Magnums. I might have to try that myself.

I switched to a 7 or a screwlock in a 6 last year, seemed to improve hookup ratio.

bro go with a 7/0 owner and make sure you have fairly heavy line to drive that hook in hard. Buddy at bitter's recommended it.

Are you losing quality fish at the boat or just on hook sets? Sometimes fish will grad baits by the tail and no matter how big your hook is it still won't catch them. Also type of line and rod plays a big role in hooking fish on fluke or floating worm type presentations.

Losing them on the hookset. Using 12lbs mono on MH rod.

I have been using the Mustad 6/0 screw hooks. I like them for dead sticking and just making subtle jerks to twitch on top of the water.

Just picked up a couple packs of 6 and 7/0 screw hooks. (weighted/unweighted)
