winter fishing tommorrow

I'm going fishing tommorrow in the steam plant canal. The fishing report says: "Bass have been active on crankbaits along big rock banks. Crappie have been caught on minnows 10-12 feet down. Rockfish are fair on live shad around the steam plant water discharge canal. Lake is 47 degrees." What should I use for the bass and rockfish since the water is 47 degrees? I'm guess the water in the canal will be around the high 50's to low 60's.

I'd try-in no particular order-a jig-n-pig, a lipless crankbait, a craw colored crankbait in the rocks, and a suspending jerkbait. If you find water around 60, throw a topwater just for grins.

I'll probably also throw some pearl flukes back up in there as a topwater.

What is the best retrieve that I should do for the fluke and the jitterbug?

For the fluke I would go real slow and just move it a short distance and let it sit, then move it again. For the jitterbug I'd go slow, but don't be afraid to really zip it across the surface-let the fish tell you what the want.

thanks I'll try that. Should I use a 4/0 hook and let the fluke sit on the top of the water or a 3/0 and have it just below the surface?

Unless you are using a Zulu that floats I'd go with the smaller hook for a slower fall.

I would be using a warm blanket and bed. Its Saturday, go to bed and watch fishin on television. I love to fish but if the sun aint out heck with it. Unless its hot out then I fish all the time. 8)
