Default Netting from a pier

Hey guys. I had one idea, but do you have any ideas of how to net a fish from the water when the peer is too high and your net is not long enough?

Besides getting a new net?

Thanks.

I use a net that looks like a oversized crab net. it uses rope to lower it o it is very easy to get fish out of the water with one.

Nope, that's the best way. But if you're a handy guy, like I'm not, maybe you can find a way to extend the handle.

If you can, walk, whiule the fish is still on, to the bank, and land it off the bank. Thats NC pier style!

Get a pier net. Drop net on a rope, carried with a shower curtain ring, Which is clipped to your line and sent down. I reccomend the book Baits Rigs and Tackle by Vic Dunaway for all new fishermen. Not everything applies to everybody, but it's all interesting.

I've met him once or twice. He's friends with George Poveromo, and he's a good friend of the family......

if you are on a salt water pier i would use the grapple hook on big fish. small fish just hand line them in..this is what i do with blues or spanish that i catch.. the sharks get the grapple hook no exceptions.

true zooker, but what if the fish is illegal to keep or you are over your daily limit?

there is no size limit on blues i normally hand line small fish up if they are decent size fine they get in the cooler if not i chunk them back in. no big deal..

most sharks have a lenth limit from breakers out to 3 miles in nc waters

Thanks guys. I ended up finding a way. I carefully climbed down a ladder hanging over the lake and netted them. Then I got sick of it and tied rope to the net and that worked out well.

Thanks-

Julien
