Plug knocker
It's winter here so I am trying to think of things to do.I just made a plug knocker from a sinker I had lying around.the eyelet will clip on to the line and you can tie off to the swivel to knock the lure free. Do you think it will work ? P N J

With Zookers, you clip it on the line and let it slide down the line the weught will most likely free it, you might have to shake the rod tip as well. With the one I made you tie another line to it insert your line through the eyelet I screwed in the weight let it slide down to your lure. if you need more help keep your rod line tight, and pull and release the attached line which will knock the lure against your lure to help free it.I have a David Fritts signature plug knocker from years ago, here is a picture of what it looks like. Chris the sinker I am using weighs about 3 oz.Maybe a bit overkill, but I stick the trebles into wood alot , as I work the cranks through tree limbs. P N J

adding small chains to the knocker helps when the plug won't knock free, the chains catch the hooks, you may to replace the hooks though.

You can use old spark plugs also. Just attach a snap swivel to the electrode end and bend it closed. I always seem to have a few of the laying around in the garage.

And with the cost of good cranks nowadays u need a good knocker. I after seeing zooks knocker got rid of all those other gadgets that I was tripping on in the boat. Spent about $5 have about 20 of them in a small container now and so far havent lost a plug since. Makes sense to me.

I carry zookers bell sinker setup and usually forget I have it, but they do work...I use two (1ounce) bell sinkers with a clasp..I need to make one with a rope for the hardcore snags.

Tell ya what I did JB. Took an old no good rod and cut it off where its only bout a foot long and put a no longer servicle reel on it and loaded it with 80lb spider wire I had laying around. For those really stuck crankbaits it really does the trick. I put a old hound dog plu knocker on it. It takes a little more time using this but havent lost one that is really stuck hard. Normally zook's invention does the trick.

it really comes in handy on the ohio river, where you get hung up on timbers all the time, but the water is too skinny to get the boat even near the hangup, or you'll bottom up and churn mud or get stuck big time..I've seen guys throw their back out having to wade and push the boat back to deeper water.
