Default Wire Guarded Hooks

I found two of these kinds of hooks in my box, and I really don't know why they have wire "guarding" them. Can anyone tell me the benefits of wire guarded hooks?

To deter the hook from snagging in the weeds or brush.

I had never seen them before but there were a whole bunch in the clearance bin the other day....25 cents for a three pack.....I bought them all and now have 10 packs in a few different sizes...I figure it gives me another way to present plastics without worrying about getting hung up to badly in the weeds. I'm looking forward to trying them out to see how they work.

They are also my hook of choice when shiner fishing. They not only help you from getting snagged in the weeds realy bad. They also keep the shiner on the hook.

What's the good word, amigo?

Went to Choke at the end of February, but the wind was so bad we were only able to fish limited areas and weren't able to fish the areas I wanted to. Need to get back down there!

Thatīs what I hate about them near the coast lakes in TX and Tamaulipas, the wind begins to blow in the Gulf and by the time it reaches the lake ...... .

Last time I went to Ramiro Caballero we had to fish from the bank , 5 ft wakes ainīt no funny ride.
