Default EWG or G-Lock?

Was my original question.

Then when researching I found this page.
http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st...objectID=33460

Which really amazed me and quite frankly confused me more.
Wow so many types of hooks and so many suggestions and ideas.

And I'm not really seeing the difference between G-lock and Wide Gap still.
And now add EWG Deep Throat to the question.
???????????????????????

Add,
EWG Ringed Superline- EWG Ringed Superline. Need to fish a Horny Toad in the slop and want it to walk?
This I will TRY!

Now I know the deep throat has longer point...I like this idea and was unaware of their existance. Will be trying them too.

Plus you got the straight shanks, Offset Shank O'Shaughnessy Straight Shank and a Offset Round bend.
Slight different hook bend but still.

Now the insanity of a cold spring....this research is being done after a got the Mustads adjustable weight hooks for fluking (15+) and 20+ trokar packs I found on sale.
I was going through my Skip Gaps to see if I needed more. Simple task. Simple answer.
Then the Dog and Monkey Show had to get involved...........

So what do you anglers throw?

I need to know the WHYS! Cause you know I'll ask.

That can be pretty intimidating to someone who's fairly new, or maybe to veterans as well. In the past few years I've move away from offset hooks and gone to keeper hook. They're expensive but you can get more fish per individual bait with the keepers.

Owner Cutting Point Wide Gap Plus (essentially their EWG) or Owner Twistlock/Twistlock Finesse.

Never Liked the G-lock for some reason, but my new favorite EWG is the new VMC Wide Gap with the closed eye. Not that I've ever had a problem with an "open eyed" hook, it's just nice to have...plus I like the offset. In real life the eye closure is practically imperceptible not like the big bump in the picture at all.

joe I really like the skip gap. If I don't have any screw locks for toads I'll use the skip gap. I use it for just about all the plastics I throw except for drop shot and wacky.

So who's going to tell me the difference between the EWG and G-Lock?

I know there are Gammie anglers around here.

The G-lock has a more aggresive bend at the top and a much wider bite in the cradle. Even though I'm not a big fan the glock would be a better choice for thick baits like a Magnum Trick or a Super Fluke.

EWG comes before G-lock alphabetically...

I've got Gamakatus, Mustads and Owners of various EWG and I really don't have a complaint with any of them. They all seem to catch fish equally for me. That deep throat EWG looks interesting though. I don't have any straight worm hooks but I'd like to pick up a couple packages to try out.
I'm curious though. Since we are talking about hooks. When it comes to fishing a 9 or 10 inch worm, like a jelly worm, would an off set hook perhaps be the best choice?

a 60 degree leg jig hook, such as a 29114-25 gammy with a hitch hiker attached to the eyelet is a better choice of hook to t-rig any plastic with. the leg of the hook is a lever which will help pull the hook to vertical on the hookset. therefore, you will more consistently hook in the roof of the mouth. plus, you no longer have plastic sliding down the hook shank to block the throat of the hook.

OK, Bo shared this with me.
It really shows some of the down falls of the wide gap hooks.
I use superline wide gaps to help with the 'hook point bending' but that was up until Bo explained the 60 degree jig hook idea.

The reason he sent it as a PM was cause it also talks about the NuJig and his modesty.

Thanks Bo.
The 'WHYS' are so important to me.

Oh Bo, when the Crappie Jigs coming to market?
Between Capt. and you... I just may go back to crappie fishing.
