Default Questions about Plines Voltage

Pline introduced a new copoly line this year called Voltage. I'm curious about this line. What makes it any different from their other copoly lines? Pline calls it a tournament grade line. Whats meant by that?? Has anyone in here tried it and what did you think about the line?

I don't know about the new Voltage, but I tried a couple spools of the Pline Fluroclear which is fluro-coated co-polymer, around mid-season this year and I found it ok. I had to change my original comment - as I've spent the morning stripping my reels of line and actually th Pline did not show a lot of coils associated memory issues, as did the regular Yo-Zuri hybird. The Pline was still soft and pretty supple after being on the reel for about 6 weeks. As far as "tournament grade" - I think it's just a marketing catch phrase so they can charge more for the product, but maybe I've been listening to NFE too much.

Is that even possible?

Keith, Tavery5 got a few rolls of that about 6 weeks ago. He loves it and I saw him catch numerous good sized bass without any breakoffs or problems. I checked it out and it casted great. I was impressed enough that I got a roll to try out myself. I have only fished with it a few times but am already sure that i will get more. Here is what P line says about it.

Voltage is a tournament grade copolymer line extruded with P-Line’s proprietary UV-Guard technology. By adding a UV inhibitor during the extrusion process, we’ve built a line that shields the sun’s destructive rays ensuring a much longer life on your reel, without losing valuable breaking strength. It’s always been a challenge to find the perfect line with just the right amount of abrasion resistance, castability and breaking strength without having to go to the extreme of using a small or large diameter line. All of these features were taken into consideration when we developed the specifications for Voltage. Whether you’re loading a spinning reel to fish the flats, or putting 10 baitcasters on the deck of your bass boat, Voltage is a line that will easily find your trust and a place in your tackle arsenal.

Now, I think that calling something tournament grade is just fancy marketing, same as professional grade etc. They are just trying to seperate it from the normal lines with a fancy name. I recently tried another copoly line from gamma. They alos refer to that line as a tournament grade. The Gamma line came highly recomended. I hated it and stripped it off my reels after one trip, tossed it in the trash. The problem I had was almost every knot I tied in it had indications of friction heat damage. The line would curl just a bit or a bunch. I lubed the knots and tried to tie them several times. I broke off several times that day. Maybe my spit wasn't as lubricious as the guys that recomended it to me. LOL he still says it doesn't do that to him, but he ties clinch knots and i tie palomar knots. Anyway, this voltage line doesn't do that at all as long as i get the line wet.

Bruce, I have to agree that Flouroclear is a pretty darn good line. I've been using it for a couple years. So far, no complaints.

Kevin, thanks for all that info. Very interresting. I'm probably going to get me some next spring and give it a try.

I tried the Voltage, and it was a decent line, but after experiencing some break off's this summer with P-Line products, I tried Sunline Super Natural Mono. Hands down, the best line I have ever thrown. Sunline 20lb. test is thinner than the 15 lb. PLine Voltage. The voltage was a decent line, but it had some memory to it, which did not bother me at all, but after I tried Sunline prodcuts, I sold all of my P-Line products. Price was also a small factor for me... The P-Line Voltage in bulk 3000 yards 12 and 15 lb. is $49.99. Sunline Super Natural regular price is $42.99 for 3300 yards, and I was able to get it for $32 a spool with one of the BTD sales.

Looking forward to trying this line next year. I'll definitely be stocking up a various mono/copolymer lines to test out next season. I'll let you know how I like sometime next year.

Ryan is also a big believer in this line if I'm not mistaking... give him some time and I'm sure he'll chime in.

LMAO, well speak of the debel. ^^^

Don't get it for spinning rods, the memory is terrible!
