Default Kevin, and lake Gaston, VA

Ok, so i was first wondering if anyone knew if kevin was going to make any more videos lol, you would be surprised how much i learned from his videos as a beginner. "The wiffle Spool Trick" is magic lol. Also, i am fishing with my high school bass fishing team this weekend at a tournament. It is at lake Gaston VA, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips/ info on this lake. I have never fished a real tournament, nor has my high school fishing team because we just started, and I was interested to see if anyone has fished it before. Thanks

Lots of virginia anglers will chime in,smaller lake next to Kerr.
Grass is or was the key in the past.
Horny toad run it like a buzzbait, rod tip high twitch and pop all the time, during retrieve.

I've been on it numerous times but I don't think I'll be able to help you much before tomorrow. Here's some ideas (depending on where you launch)

Downlake - near the dam
I like to fish the smaller main lake coves that have a little water coming into them. Docks are your #1 target. Skipping senko's as far back under the docks as you can will help you out. If they drop the water 6" to 12" then the fish will pull out just off the docks closer to the middle of the coves. Hopefully you have a light stain on the water. If you find the cove with the ugliest color house ever painted then you're in the right one!!!!!

Midlake
I find spawning fish in shallow coves. You have to be very quiet and just float around to not spook the fish. Make long casts and see how the fish respond. If they dart away then move on and find another location and pattern. Good sunglasses are a must.

Uplake
Grass. Grass. And more Grass. This makes everything look good. You need to be able to pick things apart and find the pattern within the pattern. Hopefully you find agressive fish and you can throw moving baits over the grass.

Let us know how you do!!!
