I have had luck with it by giving it one jerk after it lands just to get it down a couple of feet and then letting it sit for 20 seconds or so. Then jerk it in a few feet and let it sit again. I was using it in 3-4' of water. They hit it when it was standing still.

i like the feathers people say it kinda looks like a minnow behind it for the bass to target then again i dont think u want a bass targeting ur back treble just vary ur retrieve and let the fish tell you what they want sometimes they want burned right by um other times they like the slow twitch twitch pause if you throw it they will come xD

After years of roguing I thought the x rap would be better, but I've only seen dinks hit it, I'm going back to my rogues, I've not been impressed at all by the x raps "fish catching " capablities

Only problem I've had is that the x-rap catches too many gar, besides that, I love the ghost white in the smaller size, its worked well for me.

ive used a rattlin rogue and i really dont like it i think you are just partial to the rogue because youv got confidence in them then again the same can be said about me but ive caught some nice fish on the rap and a rogue cannot compare to the raps sexiness in the water

well, you're correct about being biased towards rogues, I've been thowing them 10 years, and dont even have 10 hours with the xrap, if I keep on picking up the xrap, something is bound to happen, I like the action n looks of the xrap, just can't get fish to hit it when they follow it to the boat

with any jerkbait, I like to give it a very light twitch just a moment after it lands. The landing of the lure resembles another fish striking the lure. Giving it a slight twitch will give it that injured appearance and stay there, had a lot of strikes this way.

rob,
thats the techinique i use to, then this spring i watched a show on jerkbaits, the infisherman show, recommends that after the jerkbait lands and settles, to give the rod a swooping motion, pulling the jerkbait, then go into a cadence of jerk jerk pause, etc I'll try a dif technique, but I will probably end up sticking with my old routine |
